The MapleStory botting guide

Last updated: October 1, 2026

Botting in MapleStory means letting software play for you: farming a map, solving runes and lie detectors, keeping buffs up, and grinding the gear systems that eat hours of clicking. This guide covers the kinds of MapleStory bots, what actually gets accounts banned, and how to set a bot up so it runs on its own.

We make Violet, a MapleStory bot, so we have a point of view. We’ve kept this page to how botting works, not a sales pitch.

01What is MapleStory botting?

A MapleStory bot automates the parts of the game that are repetition, not decisions. Most people start with farming: moving through a map, attacking monster spawns, picking up loot and keeping buffs running for hours. A good bot also handles the interruptions that would otherwise stop it, like runes, lie detectors and a full inventory.

Botting isn’t only for EXP. The same automation can run Starforce, cubing, flames and Inner Ability toward a target with a budget, or work through dailies at reset, which saves as much time as farming.

02The kinds of MapleStory bots

MapleStory bots fall into three broad groups. Which one you use decides what the bot can see, and so what it can handle without you.

Macro recorders. These replay key presses you recorded. They’re simple and cheap, but they can’t see the game. If a monster spawns somewhere else, a rune appears or a lie detector pops up, the recording keeps going as if nothing happened.

Screen-reading bots. These take screenshots of the game, use computer vision to find your character on the minimap and spot monsters or runes, then send simulated key presses. They react to the screen, but only to what’s visible. They usually need the game window in focus, and some run through a second PC or a hardware device such as a PICO so the input looks like a real keyboard.

Client-side bots. These run inside the game client and read its state directly: the map layout, where every monster is, your buffs, cooldowns and inventory. They don’t need the window in focus, so you can keep using the PC, and one PC can run several clients. Violet is a client-side bot.

03Is MapleStory botting safe?

Botting is against MapleStory’s terms of service, and no bot can promise an account will never be banned. What you can control is how much your play stands out. Accounts are usually caught by one of these:

  • Lie detectors left unanswered. Failing or ignoring one is the fastest way to get flagged.
  • GMs and player reports. A character that keeps farming while a GM watches, or that other players report, gets a closer look.
  • Play no human keeps up. The same map around the clock with no breaks is a pattern, whatever tool produced it.
  • Risky features. Some automation is far easier to spot than plain farming.

In Violet, risky features stay locked until you explicitly turn them on, lie detectors are solved automatically, and Scheduler rules can log you out and message you on Discord the moment a GM shows up.

04How to start botting with Violet

  1. Pick a plan in the panel and sign in with Discord. Every plan has every feature.
  2. Install the Windows launcher and add your computer. It shows up in the panel as online.
  3. Save a game profile for each character. Credentials are encrypted with RSA-2048 in your browser before they leave it.
  4. Launch. The launcher handles login, patching and version checks, then opens the in-game menu with your profile loaded.
  5. Generate a loop. Open the Rotation Builder on the map you want to farm and press Generate loop. Violet plans a route through the map’s spawns and keeps your buffs, summons and burst skills up.
  6. Schedule the day. Use the Scheduler to farm until a level, run dailies at reset, switch characters and set rules for when a GM appears.

05Tips for botting more safely

  • Keep lie detector solving and rune solving on at all times.
  • Set a GM rule in the Scheduler so the bot logs out and messages you instead of farming through an audience.
  • Don’t run one map around the clock. Schedule breaks and vary what the character does through the day.
  • Leave features marked as risky off unless you accept the extra risk.
  • Don’t bot on a character you can’t afford to lose.

06Botting beyond farming

Farming is only part of the grind. Violet’s enhancement suite runs Auto Starforce, Auto Cube, Auto Flame and Inner Ability: set the result you want and a budget, and it stops when it gets there. Everything else, from loot filtering and auto-selling to macros, auto login and multi-client sessions, is on the full feature list.

If something isn’t built in, you can script it. Violet has a Lua API with public documentation and a script marketplace.
